***ASG Songwriter Nights @ The Amsterdam Cafe*** Thanks to all the ASG'ers who came out to kick off the ASG Songwriter Nights @ The Amsterdam Cafe. We had a great time and heard some excellent songwriters including Kent Mayhew, Abi Tapia, Mauricio Callejas, Kathi Nordone, Bourland and Joe Lee King, among many others. (Sorry to those I did not mention by name. I will make it up to you at another time.) Kerrville's Best New Folk Artist, Betty Soo even jumped up on stage and sang backup harmonies for Abi Tapia, which was a real treat. The evening was a big success and as a result we are modifying the intention @ The Amsterdam a bit. Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 10, and every Wednesday evening for the forseeable future, ASG will host a Songwriters Stage @ The Amsterdam. Showtimes each week will be 6:30-9:30, with sign up commencing around 6:00. The Amsterdam is located at the corner of 8th and Colorado and has excellent, affordable food, along with a full range of drink offerings, including beer, wine, mixed drinks and coffee drinks. For those of you who attended last week, you know there was some confusion over available parking. However, we have been told there is available FREE parking one block down at 9th and Colorado in a State parking lot. So, everyone should plan to park there, unless you can find a good FREE meter closer than one block away. |
