Second Contact Phone Number For Information

If you have not yet received a reply to a voice mail, or you haven't had an email returned, just know that it is not for lack of effort. We do sincerely apologize. However, there is only a small handful of volunteers coordinating the pre-activity for the event, and Executive Director Lee Duffy has been working well into the night every night this week to get things ready. So, we are releasing a second phone number contact for those of you who may have remaining questions on the event that we may not have addressed on the website or in our emails to you. So, if you have any questions whatsoever, we do wish to address them with you. Feel free to call ASG President Rick Busby on his mobile at 512.577.8040 at any time, or Executive Director Lee Duffy at 512.698.4237.

Showcases Open To Public

Songwriter Showcases Are Open To The Public

One of the questions we have received most frequently this week is: are the showcases open to the public? The answer is "Yes". From 7:00-10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday evening, during the hours of the showcases, your friends, family and fans are allowed access to the Symposium to sample all of the songwriters performing showcases. They could also hang around with us after that to listen in on the Song Pickin' Circles that will be going on well into the night. So, email your respective lists today and invite everyone out to see the action. Best of all, attendance at the showcases for the public is free.

KGSR's Roger Allen Just Added To Media Panel For 2009 ASG Songwriter Symposium

BREAKING NEWS: ASG Lands KGSR's Roger Allen For Media Panel At ASG Songwriter Symposium

ASG Executive Director Lee Duffy just landed a new faculty member for this weekend's ASG Symposium, KGSR Radio Personality, Roger Allen, who will be included in a media panel, along with publicist Cash Edwards and Austin Chronicle music journalist Doug Freeman. Additionally, he will be hanging out around the weekend to take in events at the Symposium.

Roger Allen has been active in the Austin music scene for more than thirty years. He is currently host of KGSR's Lone Star State of Mind radio show featuring Texas music every Friday night. He has also been a record and event producer, booker, booking agent, publicist, and sound engineer. He produced the fabled Wednesday night Threadgill Sittin' and Singin' and Supper sessions for more than 10 years working with Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Champ Hood, among others. He is a voting Grammy member and entertainment coordinator for the Texas Book Festival.

Roger says of the ASG Symposium, "This event is a chance for songwriters at all levels to share with the very best. The range of songwriting talent that will be sharing their ideas is pretty astounding. It doesn't matter what level you are at in your songwriting, you will learn something and have a lot fun. Guaranteed."

Roger joins a growing ASG faculty for this weekend's Symposium, which includes 8 Platinum songwriters, 3 music publishing executives, producers, engineers, music journalists, publicists and tons and tons of songwriters. If you have not yet registered, the window of opportunity is short now. Before you know it, the weekend will be over and if you were not there, you will wonder what you missed. It will be huge.

BREAKING NEWS: ASG Confirms Music Publishing Faculty For This Weekend's 5th Annual ASG Songwriter Symposium

BMI's Thomas Cain, Montage Music's Bobby Rymer & Moonkiss Music's Brandi Warden Return As ASG Faculty To Lead Music Publishing Seminars & Song Pitch Sessions At This Weekend's 2009 ASG Songwriter Symposium

ASG Executive Director, Lee Duffy confirmed today that BMI's Thomas Cain, Montage Music's Bobby Rymer and Austin's very own Brandi Warden of Moonkiss Music will be returning as ASG faculty members for this coming weekend's 5th Annual ASG Songwriter Symposium. The weekend event will kick of Thursday evening with a pre-symspoium reception at The Mockingbird Cafe, located at the ASG offices in South Austin and continue Friday-Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in downtown Austin. The music publishing triumvirate of Cain, Rymer and Warden will be facilitating seminars and song pitch sessions, as well as attending showcases and song circles in search of their next hit record for the artists and project they steward throughout the year.

In his day job, Thomas Cain serves countless songwriters everywhere as BMI's Sr. Director of Writer Publisher Relations. As a performing songwriter-musician himself, Cain is uniquely experienced. He will lead a class in music publishing that will address both the craft and commerce aspects of the songwriter's life. He will be in town on Thursday and will be in attendance at Thursday night's Mockingbird Cafe pre-symposium reception, and throughout the entire weekend. He is returning for the second year in a row.

Montage Music's Bobby Rymer has over 25 years experience as a music industry executive. Before his tenure at Montage Music, he served as VP & GM for Rondor Music in Nashville, and earlier as an A&R executive for Capitol Records. Bobby proudly claims to be addicted to both golf and songwriters, but he professes a greater addiction for songwriters. At last year's Symposium, Bobby tirelessly served those in attendance throughout the weekend and is returning this year for his second tour as an ASG faculty member.

Rounding out the music publishing triumvirate is Austin's very own music publishing success story, Brandi Warden of Moonkiss Music. As Radney Foster recently stated at his ASG fundraiser concert in December, "Brandi is Austin's very best music publisher." Her recent track record has been stellar as she has placed cuts with some of today's top performers, including George Strait, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, among many others. Brandi, who is also the wife of Platinum songwriter and ASG supporter Monte Warden, is returning for her third year as an ASG instructor.

We welcome all three back and are privileged to have such an illustrious and successful music publishing faculty roster for this weekend's 2009 ASG Symposium.
